What

three target problem areas that IPL skin rejuvenation
can treat. Solar Lentigines - regions of increased
pigmentation, high colour excessive redness
of the cheeks or face and fine lines and wrinkles.

How does Skin Rejuvenation
work ? |
The output from the Xenolite
IPL system has been designed so that the wavelengths
and pulsing target and heat the unwanted pigmentation
in the tissue. In the case of pigmented sun damage
the target is the superficial melanin in the skin,
for high colour it is the small and broken capillaries
which contain the target chromophore. Heating
the pigmented cells results in localised denaturing
and eventual removal of the unwanted cells and
pigmentation. This heating also promotes increased
collagen production in the skin, reducing fine
lines and wrinkles. |

Who can be treated
? |
Providing that there
are no contra-indications, clients whose unwanted
pigmentation is darker than the surrounding tissue
and skin can be treated successfully. It should
be noted that occasionally pigmentation changes
are indications of more concerning problems and
it is advisable that a doctor should be consulted
prior to treatment to ensure that this is not
the case. |
How long does the
treatment take ? |
First a full consultation
plus an initial test patch must be performed to
ensure that no unwanted side effects are likely
to occur. Following this the time required to
undertake a complete treatment is very short.
A facial treatment will take approximately 15mins
whilst the chest area will be completed in about
20mins. |
How many treatments
are needed ? |
Between one and three
treatments are recommended, six to eight weeks
apart. Generally sun damage can be resolved in
just one or two visits whilst high colour and
wrinkle reduction show significant results following
two to three applications |
Is IPL Skin Rejuvenation
effective ? |
Yes. Skin Rejuvenation
using intense Pulsed Light is rapidly becoming
recognised as a fast safe and highly effective
method of reducing unwanted pigmentation and improving
the tone of the skin without suffering painful
side effects. The client can return to normal
day to day activities immediately following treatment. |
What precautions
must be taken ? |
Clients are recommended
to avoid sun exposure for four weeks prior to
treatment. Following treatment the skin may be
sensitised to UV light and it is advised that
the area treated should kept covered or a high
factor sunscreen be used for 4 months. |
